Yes! Before WWII, stewardess were actually nurses because air travel was horrendous! Long, bumpy flights and the plane's cabin was not pressurized! People got sick all the time, so nurses were needed on board.
Thank you for confirming, and I’m watching the documentary now (I was a flight attendant briefly, very briefly, I was hired 2 weeks before PanAm went bust), and because the airlines are leaning towards hiring older attendants, I’m thinking of applying again (for the travel benefit).
